Arcadia’s Computer Science and Mathematics faculty and students competed at the annual Consortium for Computing Sciences in Colleges Eastern Regional Conference at Marymount University in Arlington, Va., from Oct. 19 to 20.

William Bibbs ’20, Andy Malinsky ’20, Brian Muller ’19, Virginia Myrkalo ’21, Ryan Rubery ’19, and Benjamin Stauff ’21 competed in the conferences’ programming contest, and were coached by faculty members Dr. Kathy Macropol, Dr. Yanxia Jia, and Dr. Vitaly Ford. One group, comprised of Bibbs, Myrkalo, and Stauff, placed eighth out of 26 competing teams.

“The conference was interesting, engaging, and insightful, but one of the biggest takeaways for me was the passion the attendees and speakers had for the world of computing,” said Muller. “It made me excited to be a part of this community and I hope to have the opportunity to attend more conferences in the future.”

Additionally, faculty attended workshops and panels which covered technology in education and innovations in the field of computer science.
