Turner ’20 Receives Scholarship to Attend Women in Computing Conference
Computer Science major Jules Turner ’20 received AnitaB’s Grace Hopper Scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) from Oct. 1 to 4 in Orlando, Fla.
Established to advance women in the computer science and technology field, scholarships are awarded to students who are active in computing or STEM clubs on college campuses. The scholarship will cover Turner’s registration for the event, hotel accommodations, airfare, and additional travel expenses.
Co-founded by Dr. Anita Borg and Dr. Telle Whitney in 1994, GHC—the world’s largest conference for women technologists—is inspired by U.S. Navy rear admiral Grace Murray Hopper, a pioneer of computer programming. The event is sponsored by AnitaB, an organization that supports women in technical fields and technologically innovative institutions.
