Ryan ’03 Featured in International Exhibitions

Associate Professor of Visual and Performing Arts Abbey Ryan ’03 was featured in four exhibitions this fall in the United States and Europe.
At Mason Fine Art, the largest fine art gallery in Atlanta, Ga., six new large paintings by Ryan are featured in an invitational group exhibition consisting of nine artists. Ryan used her canvas to pay homage to Basket of Peaches, the 1768 Jean Baptiste-Simeon Chardin piece. In October, Ryan presented at the 51st annual Conference of the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) in Leuven, Belgium, and conducted museum research in Paris, The Hague, Brussels, and Leuven. While at the Louvre, she was inspired by Chardin’s painting to create Silver Platter of Peaches with Acorns, Knife, & Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Ginger Jar (Homage to Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin). The Mason Fine Art exhibition will be on display until Jan. 7.
Additionally, Ryan’s Still Life with Oysters, Peeled Lemon, and Silver Pitcher (with Self-Portrait Reflection) (2018) was one of 150 paintings selected from over 1,200 international entries in the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS) Fall Online International Exhibition. This exhibition, which is available from Dec. 6 to 31, was juried by artist Larry DeGraff, a member of Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and many other collections.
Ryan’s work was included in previously this fall as well. The The American Artists Professional League 91th Grand National Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York, N.Y. was on display from Nov. 11 to 22. Accompanied by a catalogue publication, this exhibition was juried by Adam Eaker, assistant curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, European Paintings.
Ryan’s work was also part of the International Identification Paths at Galleria Mentana in Florence, Italy. Accompanied by an exhibition catalog and video, this invitational small group exhibition consisted of six international artists. The exhibition was from Nov. 16 to Dec. 5.
