Continuity Plan Update for Campus Community
Dear Arcadia Community,
In preparation for spring break, President’s Cabinet is monitoring an increasing likelihood of academic disruption caused by the spread of COVID-19. Though there is no community exposure to coronavirus that we are aware of, we are approaching this ongoing health situation with an abundance of caution and moving to the next stage of our University continuity effort.
Beginning this week, classes on Thursday, March 12 and Friday, March 13 will shift to online formats.
All Glenside and Christiana classes during the week of March 23-27 will be conducted online.
It is important to stress that campus will remain open during this time. This continuity plan may be extended beyond March 27 if necessary. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and update the campus community accordingly. (Click here for campus hours during spring break.)
It is vital that University community members follow the below instructions:
- Students — Be prepared to access your courses online.Students should take their laptops and chargers with them when they leave campus for spring break.
- Housing is open for students staying on campus over break. If you plan to stay on campus, you must request housing. To do so, email housing@arcadia.edu. Students can also contact Residence and Commuter Life (215-572-2933) with any questions.
- The Chat will be open and offering brunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Residence Halls will reopen as scheduled for all students on March 22 at noon.
- The week of March 23, students are expected to attend and complete their regular classes online, as no classes will be conducted in-person during this week.
- Work-study students will be able to continue as usual; students should contact their supervisors or departmental managers if they have any questions.
- Faculty —- Use the remainder of this week to continue your preparation efforts for alternative course delivery. In some instances, it may be necessary for continuity preparations to continue over spring break (with staff support to ensure your course continuity efforts are fully functioning). Office hours should be managed remotely as well.
- Staff — The campus will remain open for business as usual.
- General Community — Updates will be sent as information becomes available.
- Be sure to log in to Zoom (also accessible with a mobile phone) and test your connection.
Campus events will proceed as scheduled unless otherwise communicated.
