Dr. Bruce Campbell Jr., associate professor of Education and director of the Educational Leadership Masters and Supervisory Certification programs, acted as a panelist for the Fika Sessions on Oct. 28. The Fika Session, a platform that creates a community for creative professionals to exchange ideas, is usually held in different venues in London, England, but due to Covid-19 restrictions, this year it was held online.

The topic of this Fika Session was  “Create Your Space—The Importance of Representation” and focused on an interdisciplinary cross over between higher education, art, and culture. During this session, the panelists shared their own experiences of representation, its importance, and tips to create your own lane of representation. Other panelists included UK Music & Talent Director Arfa Butt and filmmaker and broadcast journalist Chantal Olivia Miller and was moderated by Swedish jazz singer and writer Cecilia Stalin. 

Dr. Campbell was the 2018-20 Norman Johnston Faculty Fellow, through which he has produced an album focused on social justice, two seasons of interviews for his podcast, Dust + Dignity, and hosted workshops on how to be an effective and responsible leader. He is also a contributor to the book (and audiobook) “How We Fight White Supremacy: A Field Guide to Black Resistance” by Akiba Solomon and Kenrya Rankin. The audiobook is currently being considered for a Grammy nomination.
