Databases and Online Resources

Below is a list of all subscribed databases and other online resources available to the Arcadia community. Access is available worldwide through the links below with your MyArcadia login credentials. You don’t need to log in at the resource. For best results, use Chrome or Firefox.

Academic Search Ultimate  Robust bibliographic database with over 10,000 active full-text journals and magazines, over 9,000 active full-text peer-reviewed journals, and over 6,500 active full-text peer-reviewed journals with no embargo, in subjects including Anthropology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, Psychology, Religion, Philosophy, Science, and Technology.

AccessMedicine  Medical textbooks, including Harrison’s Online, Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, and Tintinalli’s Emergency Medicine. Also includes patient education handouts and interactive anatomy modules.

AccessPhysiotherapy Key textbooks in physical therapy, rehabilitation, & sports medicine; NPTE Exam and Board review materials; interactive Anatomy & Physiology Revealed modules; and more.

ACM Digital Library  Full text of all publications of the Association for Computing Machinery.

American Chemical Society Journals  The American Chemical Society is the leading publisher of peer-reviewed research journals in the chemical and related sciences, serving scientific communities worldwide through an unparalleled commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation.

AMA Manual of Style  A must-have guide for anyone involved in medical and scientific publishing.

AnthroSource  Journals published by the American Anthropological Association.

Art Index  Citations and abstracts for 680 art journals, more than 14,000 art dissertations, and more than 215,000 art reproductions.

Art Index Retrospective  Citation index of historical literature on a variety of art topics from the years 1929 to 1984, chronicling over half a century of art literature, it covers fine, decorative, and commercial art.

ARTstor  More than 2 million high-quality images for education and research from a wide variety of contributors around the world.

AVON (Academic Video Online) A collection of nearly 85,000 subscribed videos from Alexander Street, covering a wide variety of subject areas and publishers.

Biomedical Reference Collection Contains over 4,000 full-text journals covering a variety of disciplines ranging from biomedicine and health sciences to the health care system and pre-clinical sciences.

Books@Ovid  More than 200 premium books published by LWW in medicine, nursing, and health sciences that have been designated as Doody’s Core Titles™ by healthcare professionals and medical librarians.

Business Source Complete  More than 2,250 active full-text journals and magazines, more than 1,330 active full-text peer-reviewed journals, and nearly 800 active full-text peer-reviewed journals with no embargo.

Chicago Manual of Style  Find it. Write it. Cite it. The Chicago Manual of Style Online is the venerable, time-tested guide to style, usage, and grammar in an accessible online format.

The Chronicle of Higher Education Includes a special Arcadia-tailored section of articles and features.

ClinicalKey  This resource for healthcare professionals has over 650 journals and over 1,100 medical reference books. Also includes instructional videos, practice guidelines, medical images, and abstracts from the MEDLINE database.

Criminal Justice Abstracts  More than 320 full-text magazines and journals and coverage of 600 journals from around the world.

DOAJ  The Directory of Open Access Journals consists of more than 9,000 freely available, scholarly journals in all subjects.

Global Data Explorer (formerly called MarketLine) (Select link for Explorer on landing page)  Find profiles of companies, industries, and countries. SWOT analysis for the top 1000 companies. Industry profiles include five forces analysis.

Grove Art Online (Oxford Art Online)  Foremost scholarly art encyclopedia, covering both Western and non-Western art. It contains over 45,000 articles visual arts, over 21,000 bibliographies, and thousands of images.

Health Business Elite  This database provides comprehensive journal content detailing all aspects of healthcare administration and other non-clinical aspects of healthcare institution management.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition  Over 350 journals on nursing and allied health literature.

Journals@Ovid  Scholarly articles from scientific, technical, and medical journals.

JSTOR  Articles from a range of subject areas, including language and literature, philosophy, African American studies, and classical studies.

Kanopy  On-demand streaming video service for libraries and educational institutions that provides library users, students, faculty and staff access to a large collection of films. 

LISTA (Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts)  Citation-only database of literature related to library and information science.

MathSciNet  Scholarly articles on mathematics and mathematical research from the American Mathematical Society.

MLA International Bibliography with Full Text  The primary database for literature, from the Modern Language Association.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service  Articles and reports on law enforcement and criminal justice from the National Criminal Justice Reference Service.

Newspaper Source Plus  Full text for more than 1,200 newspapers, more than 40 news magazines, news from more than 130 newswires, more than 74 million full-text articles, and more than 1.7 million television and radio news transcripts.

The New York Times: The library has a campus-wide subscription to The New York Times online. You will need to create an account using your arcadia.edu email for access.

OmniFile Full-Text Mega  Covers several core subjects, featuring full-text articles from more than 3,000 publications, many of which are peer-reviewed. Additional coverage includes graphical content, podcasts, foreign language article translations, and downloadable mp3 and article read alouds.

Ovid  Health science databases, including a MEDLINE search interface and two collections:

Philosopher’s Index with Full Text  The leading full-text database covering all major fields of philosophy and related disciplines, more than 260 full-text journals.

Points of View Reference Center  Contains 400 topics, each with an overview (objective background/description), point (argument) and counterpoint (opposing argument).

PsycARTICLES Over 100 full-text journals from the American Psychological Association.

PsycINFO  World’s largest resource devoted to peer-reviewed literature in behavioral science and mental health, produced by the American Psychological Association.

PubMed  The public interface for the National Library of Medicine’s MEDLINE database plus other biosciences literature dating back to the 1950s, containing millions of abstracts and links to full-text articles in the health sciences. PubMed is considered the go-to resource for the biosciences. Searching can be done with either free text or the controlled vocabulary of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).  

Sage Knowledge  Ebooks, reference sources, business case studies, and videos covering social and behavioral sciences, education, business, and more, plus the CQ Press library covering US government, politics, and current affairs.

Sage Premier  Over 800 journals published by Sage., including journals in international relations, education, sociology, business, and more.

ScienceDirect  Scholarly articles from over 8,000 scientific, technical, and medical journals.

SciFinder The premier source for Chemistry – search journal articles from Chemical Abstracts, the CAS Registry of chemical substances, patents, and chemical reactions.

Social Justice Suite from HeinOnline – Includes three topical collections: Civil Rights and Social Justice; Gun Regulation and Legislation in America, and Slavery in America and the World.

Sociology Source Ultimate  Features more than 1,000 active full-text journals and magazines and more than 1,000 active full-text peer-reviewed journals, covering Deviant behavior, Discrimination, Economic development, Family relationships, Gender identity, Migration, Population growth, poverty and wealth, Religious faith, and Social Movements.

Sociological Abstracts  Citation database of international literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social and behavioral fields. Includes citations to articles from 1,800 journal, as well as dissertations, conference papers, and book chapters.

Violence & Abuse Abstracts includes over 21,000 bibliographic records related to violence and abuse, including family violence, sexual assault, emotional abuse, and other relevant areas.

Westlaw Campus Research  Comprehensive database of resources for researching U.S. Law. Includes primary sources including case law, statutes, and regulations at the federal and state levels as well as secondary sources e.g., American Law Reports, American Jurisprudence, and over 800 law reviews.

Wiley Online Library  Wiley offers an exceptional portfolio of over 1,600 journals covering the full spectrum of life, health and physical sciences, social science and the humanities, and include many titles ranked at the forefront of their field.

WorldCat.org Connecting thousands of libraries’ collections in one place, WorldCat.org makes it easy for you to browse the world’s libraries from one easy search box
