Arcadia’s SAJE Fellowship expands dual enrollment, enhances mentorship opportunities for participating students, and increases pathways for students of color. Each SAJE fellow will earn a bachelor’s degree aligned with either Arcadia’s Prek4 Early Childhood Education major or Secondary Education (7-12) track (leading to certification in Biology, Chemistry, English, General Science, Mathematics, or Social Studies).
Who Can Be a SAJE Fellow?
SAJE fellows are aspiring educators interested in:
- Leading schools and academic programs in culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- Demonstrate a commitment to social justice and educational equity
- Developing their global perspectives through international education opportunities
- Mentoring diverse students to foster success in the classroom and in life

Requirements
- Students interested in teaching in PreK-4 or Secondary (7-12) education;
- High school GPA of 3.0 or higher;
- Essay demonstrates the values of the SAJE Fellowship;
- Required meeting with SAJE Leadership team prior to acceptance
- Willingness to serve on the School of Education’s Teacher Leadership Team;
- Ability to participate in SAJE leadership activities

Our Commitment to Diverse Teacher Recruitment
The SAJE Fellowship aligns with several initiatives Arcadia’s School of Education has embarked on to diversify teacher education. This year, the Pennsylvania Department of Education also announced Aspiring to Educate (A2E), a program that aims to diversify Philadelphia’s teacher pool and develop culturally competent education programs, like Arcadia’s. The first of its kind in the nation, A2E with The Center for Black Educator Development, is partnering with Arcadia to expand dual enrollment and enhance mentorship opportunities for participating students, and increase pathways for students of color.
