Glenside, Pa. – Exhibitions of clay, fiber and metal will be on display at Beaver College, Easton and Church Roads, Glenside, in the college’s first invitational craft exhibition to be held from October 5 through October 22 in the Richard Eugene Fuller Gallery of Art in the Atwood Library. The exhibition will open at 4:00 p.m. on October 5 with a symposium “Aesthetic Concerns.” The panel discussion will feature three of the participating craftspeople – Debra Warner, of Philadelphia, weaver, faculty member of Moore College of Art; William Daley, of Elkins Park, potter, also from Philadelphia College of Art, and Fiametta Hsieh Ruben, of Elkins Park, an enamelist who works as a studio artist. The opening reception will be held from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Other exhibitors, all from Philadelphia, were chosen for their particular styles in their media. Included in the exhibition are clay: Mr. Daley, Susan Beckman, of Philadelphia, Jill Bonowitz, of Philadelphia, Ken Vavrek, of Philadelphia, and Robert Winokur, of Horsham. Fibers: Ruben Eshkanian, of Greenwich, Ct., formerly of Philadelphia, Adela Akers, of Germantown, Patty Dreher, of Media, Lewis Knauss, of Germantown, and Ms. Warner. Metals: Robin Quigley, of Philadelphia, Toni Goessler-Snyder, of Audubon and Ms. Rubin.
Paula C. Winokur, of Horsham, lecturer in the department of fine arts at Beaver, is in charge of the exhibition.
Funded by The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Beaver College Department of Fine Arts, the exhibition and symposium are open to the public. Gallery hours are 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. daily.
For the last three years Beaver College has held an Eastern Regional Drawing Exhibition with a juried contest to determine the winning drawings. Over 350 area artists entered the drawing exhibitions.
