Services for Students
Arcadia University is committed to providing qualified students with documented disabilities equal access to programs, facilities and services in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (as amended) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
The Office of Academic Development provides services and coordinates academic accommodations for students with disabilities. Students who wish to receive accommodations from the university due to a disability must meet with Disability Support Services (DSS) in the Office of Academic Development at Knight Hall. Students with disabilities are accommodated on an individual basis to best meet their particular needs. We will discuss reasonable and appropriate accommodations with students and assist them with arranging those accommodations. All discussion between our staff and students is strictly confidential. Students are not required to reveal a disability unless they will need accommodations.
Please see the University’s Disability Support Services Policy for Students.
Disability Confidentiality
Disclosure of disability and accommodation needs is not released to professors without the express permission from the student each semester. Disability Support Services, however, may communicate student accommodations needs to other departments and offices (Registrar, Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Housing, Facilities) on a need-to-know basis while arranging for accommodations. Otherwise, information or anything a student may discuss with DSS staff will not be shared with parents or other interested parties, unless the student is present for the discussion or gives permission in advance.
