Emily Marshall is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Computer Science and Mathematics Department at Arcadia University. In 2009 she graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in mathematics. She received her PhD in mathematics in 2014 from Vanderbilt University where she worked under the guidance of her dissertation advisor, Mark Ellingham. From 2014 -2017, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Louisiana State University. She joined the faculty at Arcadia in 2017.
Dr. Marshall's research interests are in graph theory with a particular focus on structural graph theory. Graphs are simple structures that model connections between objects. Their simplicity leads to a wide range of applications in areas such as computer science, engineering, biology, and chemistry. Her research has focused on theoretical results involving hamilton cycles in graphs, graph minors, and pathwidth of graphs. She mentors capstone projects in graph theory as well as joint mathematics-computer science projects that highlight the role of graphs in computer science.
