Dr. Foram A. Bhukhanwala is assistant professor and director of undergraduate and graduate early childhood/elementary education programs at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA. She has a Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from University of Georgia. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degree in Human Development from Nirmala Niketan, College of Home Science, Mumbai, India. Dr. Bhukhanwala’s scholarship focuses on integrating arts-based pedagogy (specifically Theater of the Oppressed) within teaching and teacher education. At Arcadia, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses that focus on topics such as child and adolescent development, cultural nature of human development, teaching and assessing young children, and play. She has co-facilitated arts-based seminars (Theater of the Oppressed) for pre-service teachers and continues to integrate Theater of the Oppressed activities in her courses. Before coming to the United States, Dr. Bhukhanwala has had varied experiences of working in culturally and socio-economically diverse settings in her home country, India.
