Biography
Fran Diamond is an adjunct professor at Arcadia university and Thomas Jefferson university. His degree is a B.S. in Chemistry from Allentown College of Saint Francis DeSales (now DeSales University). He has worked for over 40 years at NMS labs where he was involved with test development and method validation of a variety of tests for the analysis of drugs/poisons in biological samples. He worked in the GC/MS department, LC/MS department, and R&D. Approximately 15 years ago he assumed the role as technical director of the forensic chemistry division of NMS labs. Responsibilities included monitoring current casework for new emerging novel psychoactive substances (NBS) and directing off the drug diversion (Abuse deterrence) activities. He also assumed the role of adjunct professor. He worked throughout his career on mass spectrometry, chromatography, derivatization chemistry and the use ofautomated tools for data processing. He has also worked on many collaborations with instrument vendors. He has published/co-authored many papers related to forensic toxicology and forensic chemistry and presented much of his work at various meetings. He is currently retired from NMS labs and works part-time at the Center for Forensic Science and Education. He functions as an instructor for instrumental analysis in forensic toxicology and chemistry.
