I am the Landman Library's Collections and Technical Services Librarian, managing the library's online catalog and electronic resources, as well as interlibrary loan services. I'm also the library liaison to the College of Health Sciences, the School of Global Business, the departments of Psychology and Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminal Justice, and the graduate program in Forensic Science.
I have been working in librarianship and information services for 24 years, working in academia and the private sector. My background includes science and humanities librarianship, technology management and training, teaching writing and gender studies, and managing small businesses. My professional focus is on helping library patrons navigate and understand the information systems and technologies that surround us, always remembering that the machines are here to serve humans and not the other way around. I advocate for the use of affordable and accessible resources for students and researchers, including library-subscribed materials, Open Access (OA) materials, and Open Educational Resources (OERs). My research interests are the effects of library and educational technologies on marginalized and minoritized groups and how to remediate those disparities. In 2022 I completed a certificate in OER Librarianship with the Open Education Network at the University of Minnesota.
In 2015 I started West Philly Press, publishing poetry and short prose, and well as offering editing and publishing services to writers and poets looking for alternative ways to bring their writing into print. I've helped publish six books, including two of my own work. I have also been known to have a parrot on my shoulder at any given time.
