Dylan Fedell, a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) teacher at Palisades High School in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has been named one of the recipients of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). Presented by President Joe Biden, this prestigious recognition is the nation’s highest honor for K-12 STEM educators, celebrating Fedell’s innovative contributions to science education and his commitment to inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders.

Fedell is a graduate of Arcadia University’s Master of Education (Science) program, where he developed expertise in inquiry-based teaching and the integration of science with real-world issues. Guided by the principles of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Fedell’s teaching emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Currently, Fedell serves as a teacher leader in Arcadia University’s USTRIVE program, a project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). USTRIVE is a national initiative that supports educators in advancing equity and inclusion in STEM education. As a teacher leader, Fedell works to develop and implement culturally responsive teaching strategies, connect STEM concepts to social justice issues, and broaden access to STEM opportunities for underrepresented groups. He credits USTRIVE with helping him refine his teaching practices and deepen his commitment to equity and innovation in education.

Beyond the classroom, Fedell has made a lasting impact through his student-led initiatives at Palisades High School. In 2019, he launched programs such as an afterschool STEM Club and annual community events like STEM Night. These initiatives encourage students to take an active role in their learning while fostering community engagement and environmental stewardship through activities like tree planting.

“This honor from President Biden is the culmination of many small steps and giant leaps,” Fedell remarked. “It inspires me to continue expanding my impact at the regional, state, and national levels while working to make STEM education accessible to all.”

Fedell’s journey into STEM education began during his undergraduate studies at Delaware Valley College. His passion deepened during his time at Arcadia University, where he embraced innovative teaching methods that continue to shape his career.

Outside his professional achievements, Fedell enjoys spending time with his wife, Angelina, and their three daughters, whose support fuels his dedication to excellence in STEM education.
