The Orthopaedic Residency program in the Physical Therapy Department was re-accredited in October 2019 by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a post-professional residency program for physical therapists in Orthopaedics. This accreditation is for 10 years.

The Orthopaedic Residency program is to develop and produce expert physical therapists who provide best practice using evidence in the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome of musculoskeletal conditions. Graduates of the program have achieved a first-time pass rate of 97 percent on the Orthopaedic Clinical Specialization examination offered by the American Physical Therapy Association’s Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

Following the re-accreditation, Dr. Molly Malloy ’17DPT, assistant professor of Physical Therapy, was appointed director of the Orthopaedic Residency program. It had previously been overseen by Dr. Brian Eckenrode ’97 ’99M, associate professor of Physical Therapy.

Dr. Malloy joined the Arcadia faculty in 2019, although she has over 20 years of experience in the physical therapy field. She serves as a Residency/Fellowship representative on the APTA Orthopaedic Section Practice Committee Member. In addition to her doctorate from Arcadia, Dr. Malloy holds a master’s degree in Physical Therapy and a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Saint Louis University.
