Arcadia Supports Its Global Community and Ukraine
Dear Arcadia University Community,
At Arcadia University, we are deeply troubled by the news and images coming from Ukraine. As a global institution, our hearts are with our students, scholars, faculty, staff, and partners, as well as all those affected by these events in the region and around the world. War and conflict devastates lives and communities for generations, and we hope for peace and justice to prevail.
Our support services are in place for the Arcadia community. Events such as these can have a profound effect on one’s mental health. Arcadia’s Counseling Services are available to support students and provide confidential counseling. All students, including international students, can contact the Division of Civic and Global Engagement for support. Additionally, we are in communication with our students studying abroad to ensure they remain vigilant, stay aware of developments, and have access to mental health resources available to them. The Office of Human Resources offers support systems for our faculty and staff, including through our partner, Carebridge.
As an academic institution, it is important for us to be aware of global affairs and to understand the widespread impact on communities around the world. In addition to support services, I encourage you to stay informed and take part in the programs and events taking place across the University that are created to cultivate conversation and foster understanding. On March 1, the Civic and Global Engagement House’s weekly Tea Tuesday—from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at 6 Royal Avenue—will host an open house for students and other community members to discuss and process the news out of Ukraine.
The Arcadia University community is keeping our thoughts and hearts with the Ukrainian people, as we hope for a swift and peaceful end to this conflict. We are committed to supporting our community and the Ukrainian people during these difficult and uncertain times.
Sincerely,
Ajay Nair, PhD
