Brinker Co-publishes Two Articles in the ‘Journal of Financial Services Professionals’ and Gives Several Talks on Taxes
Thomas M. Brinker, professor of accounting, co-published two articles titled “When is a Vacation Home a Rental Home?: Reviewing the Alternative Methods of Reporting ‘Vacation’ Home Rental Expenses and the Potential Difference in Tax” and “Examining and Contrasting the Recent Alternative Calculation for the Home Office Deduction as it Applies to Self-Employed Individuals” with Dennis Raible and Robert Teti in the Journal of Financial Services Professionals.
Brinker presented “Identifying Tax Traps and Financing Nuances for Families with Special Needs Children” at the MetLife’s Annual Symposium on Special Needs Planning on July 30 in San Diego, Calif. Additionally, he gave a lecture titled “Understanding Closely-Held Business Entities for Small Businesses” at the 3rd Annual Wharton Program: Delivering Solutions for Small Business Owners, Aresty Institute of Executive Education, on July 17, sponsored by Wharton and PennMutual. Last May, he developed and presented the “Financing Nuances in Paying for Tax Deductible Medical Expenses” webinar to MetLife’s Special Needs Planners and at Hartford LIVE in Hartford, Conn. He also gave a talk, “Demystifying the AMT, Kiddie Tax, & our new Medicare Taxes: Turning Tax Traps into Treasures,” at the annual Society of Financial Service Professionals Professional Days on May 20 in Greensboro, N.C. and on May 21 in Fayetteville, N.C.
