Dr. Marc Brasof, associate professor, director of Secondary Social Studies and English Education, and Co-Director of Social Action and Justice Education Fellowship, will chair a session at the American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) annual meeting, which takes place April 11-14 in Philadelphia.
Titled “Dismantling Racial Injustice Through Systems Change Work: A Conversation About Pennsylvania’s Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Educational Practices,” the session will address the ways Pennsylvania has shifted toward being culturally responsive and sustaining educator competencies.
Panelists will include current and former state officials and members of the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium (PEDC), including a former Pennsylvania Secretary of Education and scholars from universities across the state. The group will discuss the successes and challenges of the PEDC and its systems-change efforts.
