Dr. Kim Dean, assistant professor of Education, was featured in the Fox29 Good Day Philadelphia segment “Working Parents in the Coronavirus Pandemic” on July 7. In the special, Dr. Dean discussed the struggles of balancing a career and parenthood during the COVID-19 pandemic, and strategies to cope with remote learning as school districts consider hybrid learning models or fully online classes. Dr. Dean also highlighted how the pandemic will affect the careers of mothers, as they often are assumed to be the primary caregiver to their children at home.

“[Mothers], as we always do, will rise to the occasion,” said Dr. Dean. “We’re going to have to get really creative to find a balance so that our kids are healthy and get the best they need. But moms, administer oxygen to yourselves before assisting others.”
