Knight to Know: Charli Rissmiller ’25 Attends Conference in New York City for Internship with MySkinBuddy

Charli Rissmiller ’25, a Public Health major with a minor in Marketing, attended the International Ethics, Cosmetics, & SPA Conference in New York City from March 23 to 25 through her internship with the skincare therapy company MySkinBuddy.
During the conference, she represented the company and was responsible for educating those in attendance, answering questions from estheticians, spa owners, and skincare professionals about MySkinBuddy’s signature skincare device and its benefits. She also worked with guests to figure out ways to incorporate the device into their skincare routines or businesses.
“This experience taught me so much about the skincare industry and what clients are looking for when it comes to medical-grade skincare,” she said. “Connecting with industry professionals gave me insight into current trends, challenges, and the real-world needs of estheticians and spa owners.”
Rissmiller’s internship allows her to combine both Public Health and Marketing by making informational and trendy content for social media to promote MySkinBuddy. Additionally, she works with staff to come up with ideas and plans for prospective events and product launches.
“My background in public health helped me to easily transition into this role in terms of understanding medical terminology and procedures,” she said. “It has also helped me to effectively communicate with doctors and patients. With my internship, I continue to learn new marketing tactics every week. I feel that my skills as a marketer have greatly improved throughout my time with MySkinBuddy.”
Upon completion of her internship and graduation, Rissmiller will begin training to become a sales representative for the MySkinBuddy company. She hopes to continue working in this field, eventually getting into pharmaceutical sales with larger companies.
“My career goals have stayed the same throughout this internship, and I am grateful that MySkinBuddy has given me the opportunity to start in my desired field straight out of college,” she said. “Overall, it was an incredibly inspiring and eye-opening experience that strengthened my passion for effective skincare. This internship has confirmed that this is the field I want to pursue after graduation. I am extremely excited about my future with MySkinBuddy.”
