Nearly 100 Orgs. and Employers Recruit Students at Arcadia’s Annual Internship and Career Fair
Over 200 Arcadia students and alumni took the opportunity to interact with nearly 100 organizations and employers at the 2023 Arcadia Internship & Career Fair on Feb. 8.
The fair was followed by the Diversity & Inclusion Career Connection in the Commons Great Room, which allowed students to make meaningful connections with recruiters dedicated to hiring students from diverse backgrounds.
“I’ve had two apprenticeships on campus, and I used that experience to talk to employers here,” said Sarah Orvis ’23, a Graphic Design major. “A lot of employers hire graphic designers from outside the company, so talking to people here about opportunities in graphic design and marketing was really helpful. Everyone was lovely and willing to help.”
Out of Arcadia’s graduating class of 2021, approximately 97 percent of undergraduate and 99 percent of graduate student respondents secured post-graduate opportunities within nine months of graduation.
Top employers for Arcadia graduates include AmeriCorps, Merck, SEI, Acts Retirement Community, ACCT Philly, numerous school districts in and out of Pennsylvania, and many more.
“This is the first time I’ve gone to a career event here at Arcadia, but I would definitely come again and participate in other Career Education events this semester,” said Ally Beetle ’23, an Education major specializing in Pre-K through 4th grade for general education and Kindergarten through 12th grade for special education. “I talked to every employer if they were education-related. I’m from New Jersey, so I’m not sure yet if I want to stay here or go back to my home state.”
Marissa Deitch, Arcadia’s Executive Director of Career Education shared that “employers and students alike commented that both recruiting events provided a welcoming environment for students to learn about future careers and make connections. Additionally, employers were impressed with students, with many noting that Arcadia students were engaging, curious, and well-prepared.”
Employers will continue to recruit Arcadia students for summer internships and full-time roles throughout the coming months. Students can learn about all upcoming recruiting events via the Career Launchpad, where they can set their preferences to be notified about jobs, internships, and recruiting events based on their industry and affinity interests.
Additionally, students can meet with professional career educators for guidance on their job and internship searches or graduate school planning. Career Peer Advisors (CPAs) are also available to review a resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and offer help with searching for positions on Handshake. Appointments can be made in Handshake.
