What is your proudest accomplishment to date?
Graduating High School
“Ian moved to the US from the Dominican Republic in 2016 at the age of 10 and didn’t know English at all when he arrived,” said Admission Systems Coordinator Travis Hartman. “He is proud of learning a new language and starting a new life in a completely different country. He compares Philadelphia to his hometown of Santo Domingo. While not his original hometown, Ian has accepted Philadelphia as his new home but will never forget his first home.”
Why did you choose Arcadia?
I chose Arcadia because of its amazing student body and staff. When I first walked into campus during the Scarlet and Gray Day I was welcomed warmly by the Student Engagement body and it relieved any doubt I had about the university at that moment. I realized that at Arcadia you’re not seen as just a student, but as a person.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to growing as a person and learning more about who I am. College is the time to find ourselves and create a life we want to live. I am also looking forward to enjoying student life and being part of a great community.
What do you hope to accomplish at Arcadia?
During my time at Arcadia, I hope to create meaningful connections. I want to surround myself with people who will not only make me better and lift me up, but will make this new chapter of my life one I will never forget. Additionally, I hope to succeed in my classes and build a future where I can be proud of myself.
