Arcadia Exhibitions, in collaboration with Marketing and Communications, is pleased to announce a call for entries to all currently enrolled Arcadia students for “The Royal Visit: A Juried Student Photography Exhibition,” which will be presented in the Judith Taylor Gallery, Landman Library, beginning in January 2023.

The show will consist of photographs taken at Arcadia’s newly acquired 125 Royal Ave. property (formerly Bishop McDevitt High School) prior to the start of renovations to upgrade various safety systems.

Documentary pictures

For many members of our community, the documentary pictures in this exhibition will serve as their first glimpse at this new space, spurring conversations about how this building might best be utilized by the University in positive and transformative ways.

Tour the facility

We will be offering students the opportunity to tour the facility and to document the offices, classrooms, laboratories, athletic facilities, the theater stage, the cafeteria, a chapel, a television studio, grounds, and other spaces, as well as the unique objects and ephemera they contain – exactly as they were left by the previous occupants. 

The selected photographs will be printed and professionally framed for the exhibition. Prizes will be awarded for best in show and honorable mention. 

Tour dates

Students can sign up for dates and time slots to tour and photograph the building via Sign-up Genius. Times are available on Wednesday, Dec. 7 and Thursday, Dec. 8. 

Submissions

Students may submit up to 3 images. Upload your submissions to your Arcadia Google Drive and share them with gallery@arcadia.edu. As the images will be printed for the exhibition, we ask that your submission be uploaded as TIFF files measuring at least 3000px on the longest dimension at 300 DPI.

Deadline: Dec. 22

Submissions will be juried by Adam Hess, MLIS / MFA, director of the Landman Library. Students will be informed of their inclusion in the exhibition via email by Jan. 6, 2023.Thank you for your participation. Please email borgenm@arcadia.edu with any questions.
