Nora Nelle, Director of the Office of Equity and Civil Rights and Title IX Coordinator at Arcadia University, has received a specialized certification in bias and cultural competency from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA).

To attain this ‘Coordinator Five’ certification, participants are required to attend advanced training that builds upon the content taught in two foundational ATIXA courses (Coordinators One and Two) recommended for higher education Title IX Coordinators.

As the name of the course suggests, Coordinator Five: Bias and Cultural Competencies, focuses on developing knowledge and skills to navigate bias, microaggressions, free speech, and other relevant topics facing today’s higher education institutions. Participants engaged in a variety of individual and group activities to explore their own biases and the potential impacts on Title IX work.

At Arcadia, Nelle leads the Office of Equity and Civil Rights, which is committed to promoting, supporting, and providing resources to sustain a living, learning, and working environment of diversity, equality, fairness, inclusion, and respect where all members of the University community are valued. The office also includes Civil Rights Investigators Beverly Boyle and Sheritta Wilkerson.
