Accommodations are made on a case-by-case basis. Students should adhere to the following steps in order to receive services through Disabilities Support Service (DSS).
- Student must self-identify with DSS.
Students should complete the Disability Support Services Student Application (Arcadia login credentials required) or email accessibility@arcadia.edu.
- Submit documentation supporting requested accommodations based on the disability. After submitting the Disability Support Services Student Application, students will be prompted to upload their supporting documentation, though documentation can also be provided at a later time. More information on documentation.
- Schedule an Assessment Meeting with a DSS staff member.
This interview is critical to understanding the student’s needs. Students should be prepared to discuss their disability and how it impacts their ability to learn or to participate in another major life activity. DSS staff will reach out with information on scheduling an appointment after receiving a student’s application for accommodations, but students are also welcome to request an appointment by emailing accessibility@arcadia.edu or calling 215-572-4686.
Once a student has been approved for accommodations, they do not have to submit new documentation every semester. Students must request their accommodations each semester, however, so that faculty and/or staff who will be implementing said accommodations can be appropriately notified. It is the student’s responsibility to discuss their accommodations with their instructors, ideally at the beginning of the semester. If instructors have questions, they may contact DSS for clarification.
Students who will require accommodations for placement inventories should contact DSS at accessibility@arcadia.edu as early as possible.
