Arcadia’s Influence
Arcadia had a profound influence on my interest in the world of multilateralism and international politics. International Studies gave me useful theoretical knowledge of international relations, while Cultural Anthropology helped me better understand the complexities and effects of culture in society. In addition, my study abroad experiences allowed me to meet people from different parts of the world and further sparked my interest in working in a multinational setting. I was then able to first experience this through internships that allowed me to explore the potential of a career linked to the United Nations.
Life at the United Nations
My first greatest achievement was entering into a professional atmosphere that consistently allows me to grow intellectually. The United Nations has allowed me to meet amazing colleagues and friends and work with incredible leaders in unique scenarios, including the High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, the Security Council, and the signing of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. My second greatest achievement was co-developing a project that allowed Paraguayans to gain a better understanding of the political system and the policies of the candidates they were voting for during the 2018 presidential elections.
What’s New
My professional and academic experiences have sparked my desire to continue studying issues of peace, security, and development. Eventually, I’d like to pursue a doctoral degree in something related to those topics. Additionally, I would like to continue getting involved in developing social and academic projects and engage more with the political world in my home country of Paraguay.
