From Mentee to Mentor
Dr. Bette Goldstone was my advisor, and I’ll never forget how nervous I was when I finally decided to tell her that, despite being an Elementary Education major, I wasn’t interested in teaching. She went out of her way to support my decision and to help me pursue other areas that I felt were more fitting. I’ve taken that approach with each employee that I hire. On their first day, I explain that I’m here to fully support them in whatever it is that they want to accomplish, and if this job is just a stop along their career path, that’s okay. We learn how both of us can gain from each other.
A Moment of Courage, A Lifetime of Happiness
My greatest accomplishment is having had the courage to ask my wife out on a date. That decision has led to a loving family who has supported me through everything we’ve faced in the last 11 years. Professionally, I have found a career that I still love ten years later. Knowing that I’ll have the opportunity to influence someone else’s day for the better makes each day unique and worthwhile.
Through Thick and Thin
My most cherished memories are the friendships that I made over my four years at Arcadia, which have lasted through the 17 years since graduation. No matter where we are in life, I know that I can pick up the phone and call them anytime. These people are still willing to drop everything and help when needed, just like I’m willing to help them whenever I can. That’s what led to me being nominated for this honor, and the fact that my friends even considered me for this means the world to me.
