Oh, My Gourd: I Love the Keswick Fall Festival
Apple picking, cozy sweaters, hayrides, baking pies, and pumpkin-everything are a few of the best parts of fall. Being a full-blood Floridian, I was unfamiliar with all the wonders that fall brings. In Florida, our ideal night for a bonfire is 75-degree weather. I had never seen the leaves turn to beautiful oranges, yellows, and browns. But after attending Arcadia, I fell for fall.
For the past two years, I wasn’t able to attend the Keswick Fall Festival for various reasons, such as work or a huge test coming up. But not this year. I had nothing occupying my Saturday afternoon, so when my friend invited me to go, I jumped at the invitation.
Now let me just tell you, finding parking was the most difficult thing I have ever done—ok, maybe that Cognitive Neuroscience exam I had was harder. If you’re up for the walk, though, it’s a little more than a mile a way. However you get there, it will all be worth it.
The Keswick Festival is such a cute event, with so many families, dogs, vendors, and activities. It was so heartwarming to see the community come together and to watch vendors and customers speak to one another like friends. It reminded me of home. I am by no means a city girl, and I always felt overwhelmed by the idea that I couldn’t find community while attending university near a major city. I found the entire Keswick area to be cozy and warm. And I noticed that a juice bar is opening up in the near future, which looked quite promising.
As for food, everything I tasted was AMAZING! My friend raved on and on about Humpty Dumplings. I was familiar with the place since their food truck often comes to campus for our Spring Fling carnival. I had a few Vegan Burrito dumplings, which were crunchy on the outside, but soft and delicious on the inside—stuffed with rice, beans, and corn. I will definitely be visiting soon! My friend enjoyed the cheesesteak, buffalo chicken, and honey chipotle dumplings.
Almost forgot to mention: We also tried out their dessert dumpling, which was pumpkin pie. Perfection!
It’s hard to capture in words just how much fun my day at the Keswick Fall Festival was, so I brought you back some video:
