Woodstock is Set to be “Stocked” With Fun
Coming to Arcadia the weekend of April 19, the annual Woodstock festival is back and better than ever. With three days of live music, food, and fun, this event is something nobody will want to miss.
What is Woodstock?
Woodstock is our annual spring festival. Disrupted slightly the past few years due to COVID, the university is excited to bring this event back to the magnitude it deserves.
The weekend will last three days, April 19-21, and feature avenues for anyone’s interests. There will be a farmer’s market, composed of locally sourced goods, vendors and businesses in the area, drag events, concerts, and so much free food.
Who Can I Expect to See?
The Student Programming Board (SPB) has been heavily invested in bringing together a diverse and interesting group of performers. The official list of music artists is yet to be announced, but there has been confirmation that we will be getting a handful of different performers from a variety of genres, including pop, R&B, indie music, and more.
There will also be a performance from drag queen Heidi N Closet, well known for her work on season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. If you enjoyed the various drag events we’ve had thus far, you won’t want to miss her!
Student Engagement has yet to announce the finalized list of the who’s who of Woodstock, so make sure you’re keeping up to date with all of their announcements. Updates will be posted to Canvas.
How Excited Are We Really?
Students are pumped, and for good reason.
SPB member Kiley Henderson is most looking forward to the music artists performing.
“As a member of SPB, I’ve been working a lot with the aspect of planning the concerts and I think we have some pretty good artists coming.”
Freshman Jay Lamond is excited to get to experience this tradition for the first time.
“I’ve gotten to see a lot of pictures and videos from upperclassmen who have been before and I can’t wait to see what it’s like in person,” Lamond said. “I’m excited to not only listen to great music but to also spend time with my friends and make those memories together.”
As so many first-years are getting ready to attend this exciting event for the first time, many upperclassmen are gearing up for what may be their last chance to experience something like this.
Senior Miracle Ruiz describes the feeling of attending her last Woodstock as “bittersweet.”
“Since I have arrived on campus, Woodstock has been one of my favorite campus experiences. While it is bittersweet that it is my last Woodstock, I am so excited for what we have planned and know that it is going to be such a fun time,” Ruiz said.
SPB President Delaney Jess is excited for everyone to come together and enjoy the weekend how they see fit.
“There’s plenty of things to do, no matter what you’re interested in,” Jess said. “I hope you all come out and have a good time.”
