Our focus areas include:
- Comprehensive prevention: We oversee peer educator training and program management, and coordinate programming for Sexual Assault, Stalking, and Dating/ Domestic Violence awareness months.
- Student conduct: We train advisers and help community members understand the sexual misconduct process.
- Victim services: We ensure community members are aware of services available to them; train appropriate staff members to be trauma-informed; and develop a working relationship with local victim services organizations.
- Public Safety/law enforcement: We train Public Safety personnel in sexual violence response, and develop a meaningful partnership with law enforcement agencies.
Education
We offer professional and peer-led workshops and programming throughout the year on a variety of topics, including bystander intervention, healthy relationships, changing campus culture, identifying warning signs and problematic behaviors, and responding to reports of sexual and gender-based violence.
Support
While we are not a confidential resource on campus, we are happy to meet with campus community members to discuss options and services that are available to them. We can also discuss how University processes and policies work, how to connect with a professional victim advocate, and how to help a friend.
Leadership
We manage the OSVPE Peer Educator program that allows undergraduate students to lead workshops, plan campus programming, and develop leadership skills, group facilitation, and conflict management skills. Peer Educators also increase their knowledge about mental health, sexual violence, community organization and education, and programming.
What You Can Do
Become a GoodKnight Peer Educator, host a workshop or program in your student group, attend a workshop presented by the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education, and step in when you see sexual and gender-based violence happening (or messages that perpetuate such violence).
Become a trained student conduct adviser, host a workshop for your department or class, partner with our office to host a program, join one of the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education’s sub-committees, or add a statement (found on our website) to your syllabi regarding sexual and gender-based violence prevention.
Student and Employee Reporting Options
Should you wish to report an incident of sexual assault or harassment, dating/domestic violence, or stalking:
- To make a report of sexual misconduct to the University, please contact the Office of Equity and Civil Rights: Director of the Office of Equity and Civil Rights/Title IX Coordinator, oecr@arcadia.edu, 215-517-2659, 777 Limekiln Pike, Ground Floor, Suite 112
- In an emergency, contact Public Safety at 215-572-2999 or call 911.
- You can contact the Office of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence or the Office of Equity and Civil Rights for advocacy or advisement.
- You may choose to anonymously submit a report. Note that the University will be limited in the support anonymous reporters, but will act promptly upon receiving a report.
- To report an incident to local law enforcement, contact the police department where the crime occurred (for Arcadia, Cheltenham Township Police Department at 215-885-1600 or 911).
The only confidential resources on campus are Counseling Services and Student Health Services. All other campus employees have an obligation to report certain incidents to the Office of Equity and Civil Rights.
