Drs. Katherine Moore and Christina Swanson have been selected to receive Arcadia University’s 2016 Research Support Fellowship, which covers expenses to attend the Council for Undergraduate Research (CUR) Dialogues from Feb. 18 to 21 in Washington, D.C. .

Dr. Moore, assistant professor of psychology, is researching the limitations of multitasking while under conditions of distraction, and runs the “Attention, Memory, and Cognition” lab at Arcadia. Her research examines the relationship among attention, perception, and memory, and how expertise affects these processes.

Dr. Swanson, assistant professor of biology, is researching how organisms regulate gene expression, cell proliferation, and tissue growth during embryonic development. Understanding how these processes function during normal development can provide insights into human diseases where they have gone awry, including cancer.

The goal of the fellowship is to help Arcadia University faculty obtain important skills, knowledge, and training to develop a successful proposal for external funding. This professional development opportunity for faculty covers conference costs and is sponsored by the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs.
